What is Scalp Micropigmentation in Toronto or SMP ?

Scalp Micropigmentation Toronto by The Ink Stylist Toronto is a method of disguising hair loss by “tattooing” tiny spots the size of hair follicles onto the scalp in the hair loss areas. This technique can be used in many scenarios, hair transplant fill in and failure, hiding of scar and filling in thinning areas with great results. It is suitable for both men and woman. Scalp Micropigmentation in toronto is also a viable alternative to hair transplant.
It is important to differentiate SMP from standard tattoo procedures. Standard tattooing uses much larger inking implements, creating large blotches of ink deep in the skin that will not look natural in this application. SMP must be preformed by a trained SMP artist using inking implements specifically designed for this purpose in order to create effective, natural results.
FDA approved organic dyes are used to give the appearance and feel of a recently shaved scalp. Results are visible immediately and long lasting. More than one procedure may be required to achieve desired appearance.

What happens if I am grey or turn grey?

The impressions ‘dots’ are very small and for a person with hair that is not black (light brown for example) the pigment color can mimic the hair around the fringe, almost a dark gray which will not be a problem with age. We generally make the color match the hair color (shade). Remember that as the hair grows out from the scalp, it is exposed to sunlight (normally) and the hair in almost all people who do not have black hair will see some hair lightening, so we address that up-front as we select the initial color we use.Pigment shades are carefully selected to blend as closely as possible with your real hair. This pigment selection process is highly individual and is essential to ensure a successful outcome.Going grey is a slow and gradual process, and is therefore usually matched as your pigments fade slowly over time. If you do go grey, it is quite possible that the usual touch-up session that you would otherwise require to keep your pigmentation fresh will not be required.

03.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP aftercare the same as a Regular Tattoo?

Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP aftercare is similar to tattoo care. I discuss aftercare with each client during your consultation and after each session of Scalp Micropigmentation in Toronto

04.
Does it hurt?

On a scale from 1-10 we hear discomfort level of 3. It will feel more like sunburn than anything. The fear of discomfort should not stop you from Scalp Micropigmentation. Talk to your SMP artist about options when you are there for your consultation

05.
How long do I have to wait to shower?

After Scalp Micropigmentation in toronto or SMP we strongly recommend NOT washing your head with and soap or water for 3 days, showering with water is ok. It takes about 3 days for the pigment to set into the scalp.

06.
Can a hair transplant be done after Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP?

There is no reason why you couldn’t get hair transplant after SMP. However if you are planning to get a hair transplant I suggest getting it first. This way you can see what density you need from Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP. Your new follicles of the hair are anchored deep so the pigment won’t affect the hairs’ growth rate or thickness in the area.

07.
How long does Scalp Micropigmentation or SMP last

This is a permanent pigment that we use so we expect that it will be three for your entire life. This is the reason you need it done right the first time or it will drive up the cost as you try to remove it, fix it and redo it. Experience, just like with a hair transplant, is the critical factor.

09.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation in Toronto or SMP done using natural ingredients? Is there any risks long term?

Scalp Micropigmentation in Toronto or SMP risk is similar to the risk of having a tattoo. The ingredients are variable depending on the technician. There are different types of pigments, which can have different results. Metal-based pigments, often found in tattoo inks have to be mixed to prevent the bluish hue look that can occur in the future.
The Ink Stylist Toronto only uses natural organic inks for the safest results. It’s the product we use that makes the difference. Our ink has no hues of blue and has been proven to change lives over 10,000 procedures.
